Years 5 & 6 compete in athletics competition

A huge congratulations to all our Upper-Prep pupils who competed at the UEA on Saturday in their first indoor athletics competition.

The competition was part of the Norfolk Sportshall League and we were the only school to compete against 12 other teams from across Norfolk.

We are delighted that our girls team consisting of Emma Bell, Grace Greenfield, Jessie Lloyd, Evie Matthews, Ria Simmons and Meredith Winship came 5th overall. This is particularly impressive as the first four places were taken by dedicated athletics clubs! (1st CONAC, 2nd Great Yarmouth, 3rd West Norfolk and 4th CONAC).

The girls team won their obstacle relay and Meredith Winship and Jessie Lloyd came first and second in the standing long jump, with respective jumps of 1.86m and 1.81m.

The boys team (Jack Barrett, Harry Groom, Ben Jones and Oscar Williams) also did very well for their first attempt in competition. A special mention to Jack Barrett, who stepped in to make up the relay team at the last minute.

Many thanks to Mrs Maher who managed the team on the day and our sports leaders who assisted, Olivia Findlay and Amy Mauree.

Our pupils will be competing in their next competition at Taverham on Saturday 8th December.
