Going under the microscope

On Tuesday in biology, one of the Year 11 classes examined cell structure. They had to take a very thin layer of onion, stain it with iodine and then examine their slide under a microscope.

After looking at plant cells, the girls looked at animal cells by taking a few of their own cells from the inside of their mouths, staining them with methylene blue and looking at them under the microscopes.
In the next lesson we will be moving on to look at how cells form tissues and tissues form organs and organs form systems and from there we delve into the digestive system. Yummy!
