On Wednesday, Years 1 and 2 visited the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts. The children spent the morning with guide Michelle who told them all about the ancient Chinese sculptures in the SCVA collection. They loved the figures of the dancing ladies and the mythical beast! After this, the children took some time to sketch some of the exhibits. The ballet girls even practised standing in fourth position like Degas’ Little Dancer! In the afternoon, we took part in a workshop, led by SCVA artist Doo. We used boxes and mixed materials to create some amazing Chinese dragon head sculptures. The minibus was very quiet on the way home as most of the children had fallen asleep! Clearly, they had a wonderful, busy day at this fabulous gallery.
