The Senior School musicians entertained an appreciative audience on Wednesday night with a varied programme that ranged from orchestral classics to Ed Sheeran.
The performances began with the school orchestra, capably directed by Mrs Jaggard, playing Grieg, Bizet and Rogers and Hammerstein. Sixth formers Hannah and Bridget, in their last performance of their schooldays, followed this with a haunting version of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ that had the neck hairs prickling.
Instrumental solos followed on the flute, violin and piano and we had vocal ensembles including the senior choir, solo voice and a fairly ear-splitting finale from the rock band.
We were left marvelling at the range of musical talent amongst the senior girls and looking forward to their future development.
