D of E Diamond Challenge

Last week, Phil Brown the Director of the Central Region Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and former Olympian came to the school to launch the schools Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Diamond Challenge to celebrate the award’s 60th anniversary. He spoke inspirationally about the award and how the diamond challenge will allow people to have a go at something new as well as raise some money. This money will allow local children who are not able to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme for financial reasons to participate.

The aim of the challenge is to get as many pupils, parents and staff to raise some money and earn a diamond pin as an individual, group, family or class. If you as an individual raise £60 you will get your own diamond brooch.  If you raise this amount as a group then there will be one brooch but everyone will receive a certificate.  The money has to be raised by November and we will submit it to the D of E Head office before the closing date in December.

The challenge should be something that you would like to achieve.  It could be anything from learning a new skill, like knitting, singing or gardening to swimming, abseiling or running a marathon. Miss Mann is learning Polish and Mrs Grove is learning breast stroke.

The school will be taking part in this challenge.  If you would like any more information or a sponsorship form, please contact the school on enquiries@hohs.co.uk
