It wouldn’t be summer if we didn’t have a tree story here at HOHS. Last year it was the sad demise of our ancient copper beech. In the wet spell in June the dead oak in the picture decided it was time to fall over and duly prostrated itself on the edge of the woods– luckily falling outwards. It will now be sawn up and added to our growing log pile – and no doubt warm the fingers and toes of future generations of pupils gathered round the log fire in the entrance hall of the school.
For Tolkien fans, there’s something of the fallen Ent about it, don’t you think?
