Hydroponic Investigations

Here are some photos from a hydroponic experiment carried out by Year 9. The girls have studied photosynthesis this term and were given the equipment to explore the idea of hydroponics by the Wellcome Trust. The photos show how the radishes and sorrel have grown in water containing all the minerals needed by plants as well as in water missing some of the key minerals like nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus. As you can, see some definitely grew better than others. You can also see the posters the pupils have made showing their own hydroponic greenhouse designs.
