Thank you to the parents who came to see Year 6 in an action-packed assembly yesterday – we hope you enjoyed their presentation of some of the exciting topics they have covered this term in history, science, maths and English. The children acted out a short scene from the book they have been working with in English, ‘Northern Lights’ by Philip Pullman, gave us a ‘discovery’ scene based around the explorations of Victorian author John Lloyd Stephens and architecht/illustrator Frederick Catherwood in Central America and showed off some amazing models of Mayan temples they had made, which involved applying mathematical principles. Finally, they shared some interesting information about light (including how a periscope works!). Leoni brought a real periscope in to show – it is from an F4 Phantom UK and owned by her father. It would have been used to navigate and helped the aircraft crew to see forward.
