The U16 team travelled to Langley yesterday for their final match of the season. Langley fielded their strongest side and it was clear early on it was going to be a tough game. Langley created an early chance, but a convincing save from Emily kept them at bay. We were working hard and a great individual run from Isabel found Ria in the circle, where she finished calmly. Both teams had periods of possession but Langley’s county player equalised from a fiercely struck short corner, making it 1-1 at half time.
We started the second half slowly and were punished when we didn’t clear our lines and Langley converted another short corner strike. To our credit we did not give up and Sophie and Amy worked tirelessly on the left to defend and create opportunities. Amy’s shot on goal was saved and then the final whistle went after a strongly contested second half.
Player of the Match was awarded to captain Ella for some solid tackling.
The girls can be incredibly proud of their performance this season. Victories over Wymondham College A, Thetford Grammar School, Norwich High School and Norwich School just a few highlights as the school hockey season draws to a close.
