Brassy assembly!

Music teacher Jonathan Cushion was guest visitor at our whole school assembly yesterday. He demonstrated a range of brass instruments including trombone, cornet, French horn and trumpet,   playing a variety of entertaining pieces. Afterwards, the Prep children queued up to have a go!

Mr Cushion offers music lessons at HOHS in all brass instruments – anyone interested is asked to contact Mrs Greene for more information. Instruments may be hired from Mr Cushion.

Alex sprints (and jumps!) to County Champion medal

Our congratulations go to Alex (Year 5), who competed in the Keith Ward Athletics Competition yesterday in Kings Lynn. In the long jump he achieved 3m 49, smashing his personal best of 2m and winning a trophy for coming in second place and a medal for being County Champion.

Alex also went on to run the 60m sprint in 9.5 seconds, again taking the second-place trophy and County Champion medal.

At only nine years old, Alex has been selected for the U11 Norfolk Athletics Squad and is proud to be representing Norfolk at the regional finals in Hatfield on Sunday 12th Feb.
Well done, Alex – and thank you to Alex’s mother for sending us this happy picture!

Netball News: U11A/B vs Cringleford Primary School

Our U11A/B team got their season going on Friday afternoon. Despite two losses the children must be commended on their attitude and efforts against a strong  Cringleford Primary School. Player of the Match accolades were awarded to Emily in the A team for her excellent defensive work as GD and to Saffron in the B team for some superb interceptions. Special mentions also go to Ellie for making significant improvements in her netball from last year and Eva for scoring in her first game.

On Friday our U9 and U11A/B teams are all in action against The Old School Henstead, with a 2.15pm start at HOHS.

Boarders go tubing

This weekend the boarders visited Norfolk Snowsports Club in Norwich for a tubing experience. The sun shone and the skies cleared in time for the girls to hurl themselves down the slopes in the giant inflatable rings. The shrieks of laughter grew even louder when the centre turned on the water jets, as the slope became even faster!
