We promised more details about last week’s House music competition – and Mrs Greene has sent the following:
There was a great atmosphere and a high level of expectation as various groups came on to the stage to perform. This year’s theme was the 1980s, which provided a wide variety of music to choose from. Special mention must go to those brave enough to perform a solo or a duet. Felicity, Ruby and Tami represented their houses beautifully in the solo song section; the instrumental pieces highlighted the clear tone of the flute from Emilia, Emily and Alia, accompanied by Charlie and Susie on the piano, and an assortment of percussion instruments from Austen. The whole house songs featured some interesting choreography: Irene Cara’s Fame from Ryder, Journey’s Don’t stop believin’ from Austen, and Bon Jovi’s Livin’ on a prayer from Fry. The whole school was entertained by a display of sound and images from the 80s (teachers at the back were reminiscing) put together by Mrs Greene, then the decision of judges Mr Crump and Mrs Collin was revealed. Austen were the winners!
