Alex (Year 5) is competing in a series of competitions called Quad Kids. He recently attended the first of four meets, held at Thetford Grammar School and told us, “Quad Kids is like a heptathalon where you run 75m, long jump, throw and then run a 600m race. All the points are added together and the idea is to beat your personal best each time.”
In his age group, Alex was the fastest boy in the 75m sprint and jumped the furthest. But he was most proud of his 600m race. Alex always feels he is a sprinter and not a long distance runner and was dreading the race. He amazed himself…going steady in first place for three quarters of the lap, then in third place all the way to the last 100m where an amazing sprint finish meant he only narrowly missed out on first place – it was very exciting! Alex came third overall to scoop the Bronze Medal. Well done, Alex, and thanks for sending us this happy picture!
