In a beautifully-performed assembly this Tuesday, Year 1 pupils enacted the life of Claude Monet, the famous French impressionist artist. The story was presented through three scenes, each as pretty as a picture with props the children hade made: a bistro café with baguettes and crooissants, the artist’s studio with easel, and the young Claude’s school, with M. Blanc, his teacher, telling “l’etudiant” that he would never become an artist. The children presented their Monet-inspired artwork, danced at a wedding, grieved at a funeral and finished with prayer in French. Thank you to all the parents who came to share the children’s excitement – and for providing such lovely, authentic costumes. See the full gallery here.
