Police drama for Year 8

This afternoon, Year 8 pupils visited the Police Headquarters in Wymondham to see a specially-commissioned drama called County Lines. Developed and performed by theatre group Alter Ego, the piece focuses on the character of Dex, who recruits a young boy and girl in Norfolk to transport drug packages from one place to another. It delivers a powerful and vital message to young people about the dangers of becoming involved in crime and Norfolk Constabulary would like every Year 8 pupil in the county to see the drama. Deputy Head Mrs Collin said, “We were happy to support the police in this aim. The group put on an excellent performance which was appreciated by staff and students alike and Year 8 will be discussing the drama in their PSHCCE lessons over the coming weeks.”

Inspector Bex Brown said: “Education plays a key part in ensuring young people spot the signs of this kind of criminal behaviour and avoid becoming involved. Many people associate grooming with child sexual exploitation but a child can also be groomed in order to become involved in a criminal lifestyle.”
