Yesterday saw our Year 11 girls leave their uniforms at home and get a taste of life in the Sixth Form. In the morning the girls sampled higher level lessons in their chosen subjects and in the afternoon they experienced some of the other aspects of sixth form life.
The photos show the girls taking part in enrichment activities. Designed to prepare them for their next steps after leaving school, these include a wide range of activities such as UCAS applications, practice interviews, putting together flat pack furniture, first aid and ‘university masterchef’. While some of the girls learned all about bandaging from school nurse Sister Greig, others made pesto twirls (in the record time of 25 minutes!)
The final two sessions of the day were devoted to business studies and the tutorial system. This year, all our Year 12 students will take business studies qualifications alongside their chosen subjects. Not only does this boost their employability and teach them skills useful for most potential career choices, it also boosts their university applications by providing extra UCAS points.
We hope the girls found the day helpful and informative as they consider their next steps.
