Year 9 pupils were to be found recently in the Year 1 classroom, reading the children some picture-book stories they had created especially for them.
The storytelling followed two weeks of planning, writing and drawing in the girls’ English lessons, inspired by stories Mrs Crump had read them. The girls gave careful consideration to the vocabulary to use and the number of characters as well as the actual storyline and pictures, in order to create stories that would be engaging for a younger audience. There were some very impressive illustrations and the stories were set in places as varied as New York’s Central Park and a zoo!
Year 1 listened carefully and enjoyed the stories very much. Afterwards, Mrs Bird asked the children which was their favourite – and they said they liked them all! We all had a lovely afternoon!
