In assembly this morning we welcomed two beautiful little visitors, Pixie and Pippin from Mini Donks, the local charity chosen by our senior girls for our fundraising this year. We heard from Mini Donks’ founder Sarah all about the wonderful work these gentle, friendly little creatures do to improve the wellbeing of people in care homes, with dementia or in any other situation where a smile is needed (you can’t help smiling when you meet them!). Sarah explained that it costs £30,000 a year to keep the donkeys on the road and travelling to the places they are needed: they earn £20000 of that in visit fees but need to make up the £10000 shortfall. Miss Mann, who organised the visit, said that each form in our school will be thinking about what fundraising activity they can arrange, to help meet this target. You can read more and see videos on the Mini Donks website.
When assembly finished, the children had an opportunity to get up close and touch the donkeys in the courtyard.
