The Four Schools Carol Concert

On Monday evening, our flute ensemble performed Carol of the Bells by Leontovych at the annual Four Schools Carol Concert held at St Remigius Church.

This is an event that brings together the four schools in Hethersett, each school contributing a musical item and a poem; the head teacher of each school also presents a reading. Our flutes sounded
truly beautiful in the wonderful acoustics of the church, the harmonies ringing out.

Deputy Head girl Charlie Harding read Christmas Carol, a lovely poem by Felicia Hemans, and Mr Crump read Ben Jonson’s A Hymn on the Nativity of My Saviour.

Remember: this week we have our own school carol service in St Remigius, on Thursday 14th at 2.15pm. All welcome!

Prep School Christingle Service this afternoon

We are so looking forward to our beautiful Christingle service at 2.00pm at St Remigius Church this afternoon and seeing all our Lower Prep families.

All children from Nursery to Year 6 have been making their Christingles at school and brought in their Christingle candles, kindly filled with spare change at home (thank you!). Here are some of them waiting to go to the church later. All proceeds to go to The Children’s Society

Governors’ reception this Thursday

Our school governors’ coffee & mince pies event at 4pm this Thursday,  7th December will be taking place in the Quiet Room instead of The Barn.  We hope to see as many of our parents as possible. Pictured below is Chair of the governors Martin Matthews at a previous event.

  • The governors’ role “Our governors add an extra dimension to the expertise available in the running of the school. Governors bring outside skills to the educational setting, offer support and advice and also help shape future strategy. We are lucky at HOHS to have governors who not only have an interest in the school but also bring strong experience from their various professional backgrounds. It is about enhancing the spread of experience available to the school.” Stephen Crump, Headmaster

Music and Drama Winter Concert – the pictures!

Thank you to all the family members who came to see our winter concert yesterday: it was lovely to see so many faces filling The Barn. We hope you enjoyed watching as much as we enjoyed performing! Thanks, too, for your generous donations to our chosen charity, Mini Donkeys for Welfare.

Music and Drama Winter Concert tomorrow

A reminder that our Prep and Senior School pupils will be demonstrating their dramatic and musical talents at our annual Winter Concert tomorrow evening, Thursday 30th, at 6.30pm in The Barn. We hope many of our families will come and join us for what will be a varied programme with contributions from our drama and music departments,  based loosely on the theme of winter.

The concert will finish at approximately 8.00pm and, as you leave, you may like to contribute to a collection for  Mini Donkeys for Wellbeing, our adopted charity for the coming year.  You can see a video about their work and the impact these gentle little creatures make on their website here.

At the end of the evening please join us for mince pies and refreshments.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Winter Wonderland thank yous

Is it really almost a week ago? A huge thank you to everyone who helped, donated raffle prizes, baked cakes, helped set up and clear away, took a stall or just came to support our Winter Wonderland Fair last Saturday. It was much appreciated!

The whole event was relaxed and enjoyable and in terms of fundraising was a big success, with takings of over £2100 before expenses, so it will be a big boost for PA funds. Most of our 50+ stallholders had a good day and are keen to come to our summer fete next May.

We hope you all enjoyed this event as much as we did – and thanks again! More pictures of the Fair were on the blog last weekend.
