Austen triumphs in Sports Day honours!

Miss Mickleburgh and Mrs Woods write:

Sports Day yesterday was a fantastic, enjoyable day with many great individual performances and records broken. It was also – as you will see – a very good day for Austen!

Without the dedication from staff we could not run a successful day and we would like to thank all who helped, as well as the many parents who came to cheer the children on – we hope you enjoyed it, too!  Look out for separate galleries of photos of Lower Prep, Upper Prep and Senior pupils coming early next week on our blog (it takes a while to sort them!)

Sports Day is still in progress…

…and what a day it has been! There has been plenty of fun and excitement, with some records slashed (more of this in the next day or two!) and close finishes.Lots of pictures to follow.

Sports Day tomorrow!

Pupils across the school from Nursery to Year 10 have been practising their field and track skills ready for tomorrow’s Sports Day. We warmly invite all parents, grandparents and other family members to join us tomorrow for part, or all, of the day to cheer the children along!  The Lower Prep kick off events from 9.00am, with presentations at 10.25am, followed by Upper Prep with presentations just after midday.  The Senior events run all day, with the final trophy presentations at 3.30pm.

Emily (Year 6) was the winner of the poster design competition with this colourful call to action!

Tennis News

Katie Brooks, our tennis coach, reports that last week was another busy one on the tennis courts: “There was plenty of fantastic tennis being played by everyone – and we have had lots of fun too”, she said.

Players of the Week were:

Lower Prep School – Chloe (Nursery), for hitting beautiful forehands and working very hard.

Upper Prep School – Emily (Year 6) for excellent improvement.

Senior School – Rosie  (Year 10) for outstanding play and commitment.

Sports Day next week!

We have been getting ready for Sports Day next week, with dedicated practice taking place in all field and track events for all ages.  Sports Day is a major landmark in our school year and the three houses are keenly competitive so we hope to see as many parents as possible coming for part, or all, of the day to support the children!  The Lower Prep kick off events from 9.00am, with presentations at 10.25am, followed by Upper Prep with presentations just after midday.  The Senior events are in the afternoon, with the final trophy presentations at 3.30pm.

All the tennis pupils  continued with their ‘French Open’ themed lessons last week.

How amazing for Rafael Nadal to win his 10th French Open – what an inspiration he is!

All our tennis pupils have continued with their ‘French Open’ themed tennis lessons this week, including coaching, drills, fun games, quizzes and prizes for everyone. Will Rafael Nadal win his tenth French Open this weekend?
