Head Girls @ HOHS

Hi, I’m Anna Reed, Heaanna-reedd Girl here at Hethersett Old Hall School for 2016/17

I have been at Hethersett for what feels like one, but in reality is eight, years. I have been both a boarder and a day girl in that time. The last eight years have given me some amazing experiences and opportunities – all of which have helped make my time at Hethersett a great one.

There are many extra-curricular opportunities at HOHS, for example I’ve taken part in Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh – and while I found the expeditions of all three challenging, I would do it all again for the memories and the laughs that we had along the way.

I also help with Katie Brook’s pre-prep tennis – I love seeing the children develop their skills and make progress as the year goes on. It has also given me the opportunity to develop my communication and leadership skills, which enabled me to gain my Sports Leaders Level 2 award.

The small year sizes at Hethersett mean that we are constantly pushed by our teachers to succeed and have endless opportunities to gain extra help and support from our teachers. In addition to this, as a year we form very strong friendships both inside and outside of school.

It is a privilege to be Head Girl for this academic year and I cannot wait to represent the school and carry out my duties alongside my Deputy Head Girl, Tami Nkhata.

tamiHi, I’m Tami and I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to be Deputy Head girl working alongside Anna.

So far my years at HOHS have been a major part of my character development. Not only has the experience driven me to challenge myself academically, but it has also led me to find my niche through the many extra-curricular activities offered.

Joining the school choir and the rockband set off a growing passion for music and since then I have had the opportunity to perform at the school carol services and concerts. One of my favourite memories is when I performed a soulful rendition of the song “Feeling Good” with the rockband. This later gave me the chance to represent our school at the Norfolk County Music Festival and sing with many different school choirs.

I am immensely grateful to the school for pushing me to try activities outside my comfort zone such as sports. Since joining the school I took a big step and joined the fitness and netball clubs. I even took part in netball matches against other schools and enjoyed myself!

I am excited to carry out my duties as Deputy Head Girl with Anna this coming year and make a contribution towards the school.
