Spotlight-on-Mr-Brien

What is your role at HOHS?
I am the After School Activity Co-Ordinator.

What attracted you to the role at HOHS?
The opportunity to help children participate in as many sporting activities as possible and to give them all of my coaching and sporting knowledge so that they can enjoy what they are doing and learn something new each day.

What is your favourite thing about working at the school?
The staff and the pupils are fantastic; everyone was very welcoming when I joined HOHS in September. The children are all very enthusiastic and full of energy and there is never a dull moment to be had here, which I love.

What is your favourite memory of your own time at school?
My favourite memories from school would probably be winning most of the football tournaments we entered and meeting the most amazing set of friends, who I still see today.

What was your favourite subject at school and why?
Definitely PE. I was lucky enough to have great facilities at the schools I attended and I was always out playing sport, whatever the weather.

What was your  least favourite subject and why?
My least favourite subject was maths, probably because I wasn’t very good at it!

If you could go back in time and give your “younger” self a piece of advice, what would it be?
Probably to have concentrated harder in class, especially in those subjects that I wasn’t very good at.

Tell us something interesting about yourself that your pupils wouldn’t know.
At 18 I was awarded a soccer scholarship and moved to live in America. I ranked 13th in the whole of the United States.
