Norfolk High Schools’ Choir Festival

Mrs Greene took a group of 21 girls from Years 7,9, 10 and 12 to the annual High Schools’ Choir Festival yesterday at St Andrew’s Hall in Norwich. Over 300 students from fifteen Norfolk high schools took part, performing en masse. The pupils rehearsed during the day in sections and together, filling the hall with lovely harmonies! The programme, performed to a public audience in the evening, included a variety of styles from Haydn’s oratorio ‘Creation’ and Bach to Michael Buble’s @Haven’t met you yet’ and a medley of ‘Bond’ themes. The girls worked extremely hard all day in order to learn all the repertoire and everyone enjoyed performing in the evening (even Mrs Maher who came with us this year). In between, they had a lovely meal in Zizzi’s. The first photo is from a previous year’s festival.

Norfolk High Schools’ Choir Festival

Twenty members of Hethersett Old Hall School senior choir took part in the 2015 Norfolk High School Choir Festival at St Andrews Hall in Norwich earlier this month.

They spent all day learning seven pieces of music ranging from ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams to an unaccompanied piece in Latin by the 16th century composer Thomas Tallis.  After refuelling with pizza at a local restaurant, they then performed a well-received concert to family and friends.

This was a fantastic opportunity to sing with a full range of voices in a large choir.

Overall it was a great, unique and memorable experience which we were all proud and lucky to be a part of. Many thanks to Mrs Greene for her coaching and for taking the girls.

Norfolk High Schools’ Choir Festival

Hethersett Old Hall School senior choir were lucky enough to take part in the 2013 Norfolk High School Choir Festival last night.

This festival gathered together 400 students, representing 10 schools from all across Norfolk. We sang 15 songs in total, from the good old ones such as the Vivaldi Gloria, to more recent ones, such as Rehab by Amy Winehouse. We spent all of yesterday  perfecting the songs, ready to perform them that evening.

Overall it was a great, unique and memorable experience which we were all proud and lucky to be a part of. Many thanks to Mrs Green for her coaching and for registering us.
