Year 6 camp out tonight!

Nursery children watched Year 6 busily putting up their tents in the secure prep playground earlier, ready for their exciting annual camp out this evening. It’s an absolutely glorious afternoon for their barbecue and games in the gardens and we are sure they will have a fabulous time before getting under canvas for a good night’s sleep!

Year 6 camp out tonight

We hope Year 6 enjoy their annual ‘camp out’ in the school grounds this evening! Hopefully the rain stays away and the marshmallows are all toasted to perfection!

Bronze and Silver D of E

Last weekend the Silver and Bronze (pictured below) Duke of Edinburgh groups went out on their first day practice.

They all worked extremely hard practising their navigation skills. Excellent team skills were seen and they all got back safe and sound without being rained upon!

Year 6 go camping again

Year 6 enjoyed their annual ‘camp out’ at the end of term to celebrate their final week in the Prep School.

After putting up tents and enjoying a delicious BBQ (thank you Mr Reeves), they all took part in some highly energetic games out on the lawn with Mr Peace. This was later followed by the toasting of countless marshmallows around the camp fire with Mr Crump.

It’s not known how much sleeping actually took place that night, but everyone involved certainly had a great time!

Thanks to our gap year students for helping and camping out on the night, and to the senior girls who helped with the complicated job of putting up and packing away the tents!

Braving the storms for the Silver D of E

At the start of the October half term 9 Year 11 students tackled the final qualifying Silver Duke of Edinburgh expedition. The three days went by without any mishap on the part of the girls. They were very good navigators, excellent time keepers, good team players and great campers. The group had to put up with horrendous weather conditions. It rained heavily and the wind gusts were very strong, but nothing seemed to dampen their spirits.

Congratulations on gaining this part of the award and a big thank you to Mr Johnston and Miss Mann who without their help I would not be able to run this award.

Year 6 camp out

To celebrate their final week in the Prep School, last Thursday some rather excited girls took part in the annual Year 6 ‘camp out’.

After putting up the tents, everyone enjoyed a yummy BBQ and toasted marshmallows around the campfire with Mr Crump. This was followed by some fun games with Miss Mann and a few of the Year 11 and 12 boarders. Finally the girls all made their own dream catcher, before having one last hot chocolate and turning in for the night. They were accompanied by three Year 11 students who have just achieved their silver Duke of Edinburgh award.

Despite the rather unseasonal weather everyone involved had a great time and survived their night out under the stars.
