Ellie’s cake and Hama bead sale

Ellie (Year 6)’s mum is training for the next London Marathon in aid of Wellchild, a charity which helps get seriously ill children across the UK out of hospital and cared for at home.  Ellie, Leoni, Poppy and friends are holding a cake and Hama bead sale on Friday 9th December at 1.00pm in the courtyard to help raise some money for this worthwhile cause.  Do come and support them! Look out for Ellie’s posters around the school!

Charities Update

Last year we were very successful with our fundraising at HOHS and managed to achieve most of our target goals. Many of the form groups sponsored their own animals and, as a school, we gathered enough money to support Zoilo Perez Mendez, her school and her community in Jalapa Guatemala for at least two years.

During our last charity meeting the form group charity representatives decided on our charities for this year. All monies raised will be split between two very worthwhile organisations:

1. EACH (East Anglian Children’s Hospices)EACH-Master-logo-COLOUR
A local charity with whom we have a number of connections. They support families and care for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk.

If each form group would like to set themselves a goal, you can help by raising:

£5 – pays for art supplies for a session of specialist play.
£20 – pays for an essential care kit for their nurses when providing care in the family home.
£37 – pays for an hour of music therapy

 2. Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity
Fundraising saves more lives, develops new treatments, builds state-of-the-art facilities and supports their remarkable patients and their families. All donations help the hospital to continue putting their young patients first.

Please have a think about which charity you would like to help as a form and when and what you would like to do. This can then be discussed at our next charity meeting tomorrow (Thursday 7th November) in Lab C at 1.15pm.

Any bright fundraising ideas for Children in Need on 15th November will also be welcomed.
