Thank you Mr Bray!

Michael Bray will be retiring from his post of maintaining our beautiful gardens and grounds at the end of this school year after almost twenty years at the school. He has worked as a gardener and groundsman since leaving school and training in horticulture at the forerunner to Easton College, situated back then in the Norfolk village of North Burlingham.

Before joining HOHS, Mr Bray worked for eighteen years as grounds and gardens supervisor at the large Colmans site at Carrow in Norwich.

“I will miss the school, the gardens and the friendly people here but I won’t be putting my trowel and fork away just yet! Gardening is my favourite pastime as well as my job and I shall be spending a lot more time in my own garden.”

Mr Bray and his wife will also be able to pursue some of their other favourite pastimes including walking and visiting open gardens and National Trust properties.

“I am also looking forward to being able to watch Formula One and have the occasional lie-in without feeling guilty!”, he said.

We all wish Mr Bray every happiness in his retirement when the time comes, and thank him for keeping our grounds so beautiful all these years.

Lucy tumbles into ‘Medal Place’

Congratulations to Lucy C who joined us in Year 7 this September, having moved to Norfolk from Bristol. Having previously been a member of Bristol Hawks Gymnastics club, Lucy joined Split Leaps Gymnastics based at UEA and has recently competed in two gymnastics competitions with them.

On Sunday 26th October, she competed in the Norfolk Regional Women’s Apparatus Competition, held at the UEA. She achieved 7th place out of 43 in her age group on bar and vault – a very good result as she’d only been with the club for six weeks!

On Sunday 9th November, Lucy competed in the Norfolk Gymnastics Association Trampette and Tumbling Competition, held at Easton College. She was placed second in her age group/level for tumbling, and is pictured here with her medal and certificate.

Well done, Lucy.Lucy gymnastics
