Mr Crump sends in a ‘selfie’

‘Selfie’ has been named as word of the year by Oxford Dictionaries after the frequency of its usage increased by 17,000% over the past 12 months. The word has been added to the Oxford Dictionaries Online, but is not yet in the Oxford English Dictionary, although it is being considered for future use.

For all those not yet in the know, a ‘selfie’ is “a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website”.

Not wanting to be left out of the action, Mr Crump sent through his own ‘selfie’ this morning, taken in front of the famous Tyne bridge. He is currently attending the GSA heads conference in Newcastle, where topics on the agenda have included curriculum reform, mindfulness in schools and the rate of technological progress and its effect on education.Screen Shot 2013-11-19 at 12.50.57 PM
