Year 9 textiles

Last half term our Year 9 girls enjoyed a brief introduction to garment making with Mrs Ling and produced these wrap-over skirts. They have been surprised how important the key skills of accuracy and attention to detail are on even a simple shape.

Colourful GCSE textile creations

Our GCSE design and technology textiles pupils have just finished their final garment designs – and we think they are fabulous! The brief was to design something that was either Asian-influenced or used recycled textiles.  Here are Kelly and Maisie with their dresses.

A Level textiles work

Angel (Year 13) researched mushrooms, poppy petals and historic layering and pleating techniques when creating her A Level textiles piece. The garment, entitled “Layer upon Layer”, was inspired by artists and designers such as Mark Rothko, Issey Miyake and Yayoi Kusama.

Have you seen our AS and A2 textiles?

You may have already noticed some of the fantastic AS and A2 textiles work displayed in the front hall, but have you had a really good look?

It’s only when you take the time to study the intricate designs and detailed stitching close up, that you can really appreciate just how much time, effort and skill has gone into the completion of each piece.
