Thanks for collecting!

Thank you to everyone who has been placing Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers in our box in the front hall. We hope to collect a good number, as in previous years, as they can be exchanged for some great items and equipment for sports activities!

The vouchers will be issued in stores until 3rd May so there are still a few weeks to get collecting!  Thank you.

Jump Rope for Heart – £466 raised so far!

Our Jump Rope For Heart  ‘jump-off’ events took place on 8th and 9th March, with our Prep Department skippers aiming to achieve their personal and group targets.

The Big Rope Challenge resulted in a maximum of four children skipping ten times for Years 5 & 6, while the younger children achieved three children skipping nine times. Several children beat their personal targets and many more improved their overall skipping ability through taking part in this project. Congratulations to all the children who took part.

Many of the skippers were sponsored to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation. Together they have so far raised an amazing £466, of which 20% will go to school funds. Thank you to all who sponsored the skippers and who gave their support during the build-up to the event, turning ropes and cheering on.

The resources donated by BHF to the school will continue to be used to encourage skipping and perhaps another time the event will showcase some fancy skipping demonstrations!

Each child that takes part in Jump Rope For Heart will also receive a thank you certificate.

Jump Rope for Heart – update!

It has been a joy to see so many of our younger children taking up skipping in their break times – some already experts, others just learning. Many of our Years 3 – 6 pupils are taking part in the Jump Rope For Heart sponsored challenge next week. Targets for the ‘Jump Off’ are now being set for each child, according to their own ability. We will also have ‘Big Rope’ joint challenges for several children to skip together. Please encourage your children to practise when the weather is fine and assist them with gaining sponsors safely. Children should take part even if they only have a couple of sponsors (or none) as the activity itself will be fun. Thank you for your support.

Each child that takes part in Jump Rope For Heart will also receive a thank you certificate. The initiative is organised by the British Heart Foundation.

Mrs Midgely

Jump Rope for Heart

Many of our Years 3-6 pupils have recently been seen in the playground practising various fun, fitness-building skipping techniques, individually, in pairs and in groups. Mrs Midgley is encouraging the children to participate in the British Heart Foundation’s initiative Jump Rope for Heart, using skipping ropes and other resources supplied free to schools taking part. When they have mastered the basic skipping skills, the children will be holding a sponsored Jump Off in March. Sponsorship money raised will be split between the school and the British Heart Foundation which helps fund essential research into the causes and treatment of heart disease, patient care and support.

Each child that takes part in Jump Rope For Heart will also receive a thank you certificate.

Thanks for collecting!

Thank you to everyone who has been placing Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers in our box in the front hall. This year we have collected just over 4,000 vouchers and have placed orders for some new athletics, sports day, swimming and fitness equipment.

Please continue to collect as many vouchers as you can. Thank you to Ms French and Mrs Groves for helping with the counting and posting the vouchers.
