‘Glimmer’ does the rounds

Before ‘Glimmer’ set off for pastures new she decided to take one last farewell tour of the school.

First, she stopped by to see our younger pupils and show off her rather impressive paintwork. After having a go on their climbing frame and saving a couple of goals, she swung by Year 3’s classroom to see what they were learning that day.

Next up was a quick trip into the woods and a chance to climb a tree or two – a welcome relief after being cooped up in the art room for all those weeks.

Back inside, having answered the phone for Miss Bedder on her way past the reception desk, Glimmer dropped in to see Mr Crump and pass on a few thoughts and ideas about how best to run the school..

With her mission complete, Glimmer was finally wrapped and dispatched, ready to start her new life on the Go Go Gorilla trail in Norwich.

See all the photos from Glimmer’s action-packed day.

Final touch up for our gorilla

Our talented artists in Years 7-13 have been busy putting the final touches to our Go Go Gorilla. The design, inspired by Pop Art, includes images of popular culture ranging from cartoon strip characters to fast food logos – and of course the odd gorilla reference! gorilla-art3 gorilla-art2 gorilla-art

Fancy painting a gorilla?

We have now started painting and projecting images onto our Go Go Gorilla.

Any pupils who wish to get involved with the project can come along to the art room any lunchtime or after school from 4pm-5pm on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday for the next 3 weeks.

It’s time to go go ape!

Don’t be too surprised if you happen across a troop of brightly coloured gorillas in Norwich’s streets, parks and open spaces this summer.

Following on from the success of the Go Elephant event a few years ago, local schools, community groups and professional artists have once again been invited to decorate their own sculpture as part of Go Go Gorilla.

These exciting and original artworks will be displayed for 10 weeks in a trail around town, before being auctioned off to raise money for the Break and Born Free Foundation charities.

HOHS will be creating our very own gorilla to join the display. So for any seniors who wish to take part in painting the gorilla, there is a template available (either from myself or the front office) on which to complete a design.

All designs must be handed in by Friday 3rd May.
