Reception pupils at the top of the beanstalk!

Thank you to all the friends and families who came to see our Reception children present their class assembly this morning – didn’t they do well?

The children showed us what they have been learning this term about how things grow. They had listened to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and planted their own beans. Then they had done some creative writing about what they would find at the top of their beanstalks, from pink fairy castles to super heroes! We read the story about Jasper`s Beanstalk and painted beautiful, colourful pictures to re-tell the story.

The children told us how they have planted sunflower seeds and cress seeds and talked about the conditions needed for plants to grow – and how important it is to be PATIENT while you wait for this to happen!

After the assembly was finished the children stayed for a little while in the Barn to share the excitement with their families…

Blooming flowers and different materials

As part of their science topic work this term Years 1 & 2 have been growing these beautiful amaryllis. Having planted their bulbs back in September the flowers have finally come out in bloom and are now looking beautiful on the Year 1 windowsill.

Pupils have also been learning about ‘materials’ in science this week, as seen on their classroom display shown below.Year1_2-science-flowersYear1_2-science-display
