Lucy helps launch gymnastics centre

We recently reported that talented gymnast Lucy (Year 9) would be undertaking a key role in the launch of a new community gymnastics satellite centre at Queens Hill Primary School – and now she has told us how it went:

“My gymnastics club, Split Leaps, ran taster sessions at the centre through the day, with the children getting the chance to try out the different equipment with the help of the coaches and volunteer gymnasts. I helped with vault, bar and tumble, demonstrating what they needed to do and then helping them do the skills safely.”

Nearly 400 boys and girls took part during the day and they all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Lucy will now be regularly acting as a volunteer assistant coach after school on Friday afternoons, so she will be gaining valuable experience before taking her first coaching qualification.

Lucy helps launch gymnastics centre

Lucy (Year 9) is a talented gymnast whose achievements we are proud to share. Just after half term, she will be undertaking a key role in the launch of a new community gymnastics satellite centre at Queens Hill Primary School. Throughout the day,  Lucy’s gymnastics club will be running displays and taster sessions for around 400 pupils aged 4-11, with Lucy taking part in the demonstrations, as well as acting as a volunteer coach during the sessions.

The day will give Lucy useful additional volunteering and coaching experience before she takes the British Gymnastics Core Proficiency coaching qualification later in the year, as well as giving her the opportunity to share her love of the sport.
