Year 5 prove reading is the best!

Thank you to the families who came to see Year 5’s assembly on Tuesday – and what a treat we enjoyed! The girls had the whole audience laughing at their backdrop cartoons (and pictures of teachers caught with some favourite books!) Matilda made a very convincing presenter for the ‘Family Fortunes’ episode, with Amy, Georgina, Eve and Caitlin playing the roles of the very knowledgeable competitors. All the girls performed with wonderful confidence as they reminded us of all the good things about reading, ending with a fun reworking of the Black-Eyed Peas’ ‘I Gotta Feeling’ (‘This book’s gonna be a good, good book!’)  All in all this was a most enjoyable and informative assembly – well done, Year 5 and Mrs Fisher! Thank you to all the family members who came to share the assembly. Enjoy the gallery of pictures…

Year 6 class assembly postponed

Parents, please note that tomorrow’s class assembly presentation by Year 6 has regrettably had to be postponed because of the ‘snow days’ last week.  Mr Peace will announce the rescheduled date as soon as possible…the children will be working hard to make sure it will be well worth waiting for!

Yet more snow fun!

It’s been lovely to see what some of our families have been up to this week – here are a couple more from Agata (Year 2) and Vera (Nursery Yellow) and from Isla (Nursery Green) …plus an update on our boarders’ amazing igloo!

Vera and Agata’s slightly puzzled snowman!

Isla’s snow angel!

The igloo is really taking shape…

…you can fit three people inside

…and we even have fairy lights!

Cold snap, warm clothes!

If any pupils are in need of an HOHS hat or gloves in this unexpected cold snap, please see either Linda Jones or Reception as we have some available to buy in the school office for the rest of this week.

U16 and U14 netball excellence v Thorpe St Andrew

Our U14 and U16 netball teams were both in action at home yesterday against Thorpe St Andrew.  Both teams played extremely well in very close games.  At half time, the U16s were losing 8-1,  but the girls really stepped up in the second half, effecting a brilliant come-back to pull off a 14-13 win! The U14 team worked hard for the whole game, playing some great netball and ending with a final score of 8-8.

Players of the match were picked by the opposition: congratulations to Alice P  for the U16s and Emily D for the U14s.  Well done to all the girls who played – there was some exceptional netball on display.

Years 3 and 4 in the greenhouse

Mrs Gunn took Years 3 and 4 pupils to Mr Young’s greenhouse today, where the children helped to pot on some flower seedlings to provide extra colour in our gardens before the end of the summer term. The pupils also planted some seeds of their own – chillis, carrots and other good things to eat – that’s what they are doing in these photos. Some of the produce will be used in the wheelbarrow plantings we are planning for the Royal Norfolk Show in June – watch this space for news about this!

Sports Results: U16 netball v Sprowston High

The U16 netball team were in action against Sprowston last Thursday. Sadly we were not victorious this time but the girls showed resilience on a cery chilly day! Player of the match was awarded to Alice for her movement around the court.
