Free Pre-Christmas treat: Lights in Lynn!

With Christmas only a few days away, our HOHS families are doubtless busy with preparations. But if you’re looking for a pre-Christmas family outing – or perhaps have last-minute shopping to do and can’t face the city crowds – why not go west and hit King’s Lynn in the late afternoon or evening to see the historical town lit up in spectacular, festive splendour?

‘Lynn Lumière’ has seen French-designed illuminations light up the town since Spring this year, funded by the European Union Interreg IVA programme. Currently, from dusk until 10pm every evening, six of the town’s famous buildings are transformed with amazing animated light shows depicting Lynn’s heritage and history. Five of the illuminations are Christmas-themed and two include scenes (with sound!) from classic Disney films, while others have been specially commissioned to represent a joyous Christmas spirit.

Quiz Triumph

Last term our quiz quartet of Sophie Downing (captain; Lower 6th), Megan Groom (Year 11), Emily Edwards and Sienna Sexton (both Year 10) practised vigorously at lunchtimes in preparation for their matches against Reepham High and King Edward VII, King’s Lynn.

On Wednesday 4th December they registered an emphatic victory over ‘KES’ and came close to defeating a seasoned Reepham foursome.

HOHS 570  –  KES 120

HOHS 410  –  Reepham 430

I am very proud of the girls and also want to praise Shannon Osbourne and Skekinah Oku for officiating on the night.
