The future looks bright for our Year 13 girls!

Our Year 13 pupils, some of whom are pictured below, all sent their university applications in well before the January UCAS deadline, thanks to guidance and encouragement from Mrs Grove, Mrs Collin and Mr Crump – and the offers have been rolling in!

All the girls have had at least one offer or interview invitation so far, with almost a quarter already holding offers from all five of their university choices.

This is fantastic news and the Sixth Form is buzzing as new offers appear. Well done to the girls for working hard on their personal statements and preparing their application forms so promptly last term.

The girls’ chosen courses are in subject areas as diverse as ever and include geography, interior architecture and design, theatrical make-up, chemistry, business and marketing.

Another fantastic year for A Level results!

Today we gave out A Level results to Year 13. We are delighted that almost a quarter of our candidates achieved at least one A* in their subjects! We congratulate all of them on their achievements.

All of our girls also gained places in their first choice of university, a testament to the support they receive at HOHS in selecting appropriate courses and in completing their application form (including  the all-important personal statement) and to the detailed references provided by the school in support of candidates.

These results are a fitting reward for all the hard work of the candidates and their teachers (not forgetting the support of parents!) resulting in almost 70% of passes this year at the highest grades A* – C, with almost a fifth at the top grades of A and A*.

Girls are going on to a wide range of courses at home and abroad, from veterinary science at the University of Liverpool to chemical engineering at McGill, one of Canada’s top institutions, to costume design and making in Nottingham.

We wish everybody well as they take up their places in the Autumn and hope they will keep in touch via our blog!

The future’s looking bright for our girls

We are delighted with the calibre of offers our Year 13 girls are currently receiving for their higher education studies. The latest offers include:hat

Helen Stephenson
Foundation Art at the prestigious Central St Martins – University of the Arts (London)

Joy Chianu
Has received offers at UK universities, UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles), University of Alberta and McGill University (Montreal).

Joy has accepted McGill to read a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and has been awarded an entrance scholarship of $3000.

Hannah Gaskin
Has been offered a place at Liverpool Veterinary School.

Well done to our girls and also to our Sixth Form tutors and teachers who invest so much time in advising pupils on where to apply for university. Their assistance with girls’ applications and personal statements obviously pays dividends!
