Nativity and The Jolly Christmas Postman

This afternoon pupils from Nursery to Year 3 took part in the annual Nativity and Lower Prep Production in front of a large and very enthusiastic audience in the Barn. The children gave us a fantastic performance, with some wonderful acting, singing and dancing along the way. The performance will be available on DVD early next term and order forms will be sent out then.

Well done to all involved and thank you to all the families who joined us this afternoon: we hope you enjoyed it!

Look out for more photos coming soon…

Traditional Carol Service fills St Remigius…

IMG_7706

St Remigius parish church was filled with family and friends of HOHS this afternoon for our carol service, led by Reverend Derek McClean. Head Girl, Deputy Head Girl and Senior Boarder Alex, Emily-Jayne and Shannon led the procession to the choir stalls for the traditional carols and readings, which were interspersed with some musical delights from our choirs and musicians. A particular highlight was the first public performance of “To Bethlehem”, a beautiful and deceptively simple carol written by Warwick, Henry and Stella from Year 6 and Ruby from Year 5. Mrs Richards conducted the Upper Prep Choir and they were accompanied on piano by Warwick and Henry. The poignant “Mary, did you know?”,  sung by Tamikani from Year 12 and Bridget, Karen and Hannah from Year 13, was also a stand-out item,  while all the girls who did readings and led prayers spoke clearly and with great expression.

Pre-Prep Nativity Play

Well done to our youngest pupils who performed beautifully in the annual Pre-Prep Nativity play last week.

The news boys made sure the angels were kept up to date with the progress of Mary, Joseph and the donkey on their journey to Bethlehem….and their tail-coated choirmaster made sure the angels had perfected their welcome song for the baby Jesus by the time he was born in the stable!

Our original Mary was unwell and not able to perform on the day (these photos were taken during the dress rehearsal). Well done to Molly, our little star who stepped in at the last moment to hold the baby!

Thanks to all the teachers who have worked tirelessly for many weeks to put on this epic production.2014-Nativity122014-Nativity112014-Nativity32014-Nativity2014-Nativity92014-Nativity62014-Nativity4 See more photos here.

Nativity Play this afternoon

Our youngest pupils in Nursery through to Year 2 have been busy learning their lines and practising Christmas songs for the annual Pre-Prep Nativity Play

They will be putting on an extra special gala performance for their parents and families in the Barn this afternoon, from 2.00pm – 3.00pm. Parents, hankies are probably required!
