Sports results: Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 swimming v Norwich High School

Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 competed at home against the Girls’ High School on Tuesday in a fantastic, roof-raising gala. All pupils in these year groups had been invited to compete this time, so it was a very well attended fixture, with about 30 swimmers from HOHS competingSwimmers and a good crowd of spectators.

It proved a very evenly-matched gala and we achieved some fantastic wins across the board. Everyone held their breath as the final points tally was read out…to discover our ‘A’ team had achieved TOP position by a margin of just one point!

Boy of the Gala is Maxim and Girl of the Gala is Ellie – it was their first time in a gala and I was so proud of them both for overcoming their nerves and swimming magnificently!

Well done to all the swimmers and thanks to all the parents for their support.

Swim Gala: HOHS v Norwich High School

SwimmersYears 6, 7 and 8 went to Norwich High School for Girls for a swimming gala on Tuesday 2nd December – the first time they had swum a gala in a 25m pool – and we are very proud of them all!

Despite coming second, our girls can be very proud of themselves. Everyone swam with great style and remembered everything they had learned. There was a buzzing atmosphere and enthusiastic support from the High School hosts for both teams.

Well done girls!

Swim Gala: HOHS v Norwich High School

The Years 3, 4 and 5 swimming gala against Norwich High School last Tuesday was a huge success and we raised the roof in true competitive style!

Although the visitors won overall, we have some great individual and team successes to report, including backstroke first place for Saffron (Year 4) and backstroke joint first for Warwick and James (both Year 5). Well done to Warwick for also achieving first place in breaststroke.

Fleur (Year 5) came first in breaststroke and Anna (Year 5) also achieved first place in front crawl. Our Year 5 relay teams won both the medley and front crawl relays.

Boy of the Gala: Sam (Year 3)
Girl of the Gala:  Ashlyn (Year 5)

Well done, everyone!

The next gala competition for Years 6, 7 & 8 will be on 2nd December against the Girls High School (away).

Our next school Open Morning will be held on Saturday 2nd February 10am to 12noon.

It’s the perfect opportunity to come along and see what our busy, thriving school has to offer! We would encourage any parents of current pupils in Nursery, Year 6 and Year 11 to take this opportunity to view  the school department that you son or daughter will be moving to in September.

Just a reminder to parents that ALL pupils in all years, other than our Nursery boys and girls, are expected to be in school. Please mark the date in your diary and spread the word to any prospective parents you know who would like to visit us then.

To confirm attendance please contact Mrs Kim Borrer 01603 810390 or email kborrer@hohs.co.uk

Another victory for our badminton team

Match report: HOHS U14s Badminton V Norwich High School

7 students travelled to Norwich High School on Monday for an U14s badminton league fixture. Our best player was injured, but came to act as an efficient coach. Emily-Jayne Matthews very kindly offered to play and paired Anna Allen effectively.

The matches were fast and furious, and scores came thick and fast. Our girls played confidently, delivering accurate smashes causing the opposition to run all over the court. All 3 double pairs played to their strengths and before anyone realised they had reached the score of 21, winning their games.

Overall HOHS convincingly won 8 out of 9 games. The only game that we lost was when our 3rd pair played their first match.

I really enjoyed watching the girls play their matches. Well done everyone.
