Isabella (Year 3) loves gymnastics and has been working her way through her British Gymnastics proficiency awards at Levels 8, 7, 6, 5 & 4. Earlier this month she was presented with the certificates for all of these, making her parents very proud indeed! Isabella is now working towards  Levels 3, 2 & 1. The second picture shows some of the skills tested for Level 3. Well done, Isabella!

HOHS minibus service change

By popular demand, our friendly minibus service will be leaving school later –  at 5pm – each afternoon from September, to allow pupils to attend after school clubs before dropping them home. We currently serve families living in and around Roundhouse, Cringleford, Eaton and various parts of the city.  We are very flexible, though, so wherever you are and whether you need the service every day or could just use the occasional drop-off, do speak with Linda Jones in the main school office (01603 810390). We aim to help wherever we can!

Lucy is Gymnast of the Year

At HOHS we like to celebrate pupils’ successes out of school as well as within, so we were very proud to hear that Lucy (Year 8) has won another gymnastics accolade. Last week she was named 2016 Gymnasts’ Gymnast of the Year at the annual awards ceremony at her gymnastics club Split Leaps. The award is an honour voted for by all members of the club and marks the end of a fantastic year full of achievements for Lucy – well done!

Lucy Scoops Silver Medal

Lucy (Year 8)  competed in the Norfolk Gymnastics Floor & Vault Team Championships on Sunday at Easton Gymnastics. She competed as part of a team of four from her club (Split Leaps);  this competition takes the three highest scores from the team members for both apparatus to provide a combined score.

Her team did extremely well against tough competition, winning  the silver medal at Level 4 and only narrowly missing out on first place. Lucy now has the summer to prepare for her next competition, the Norfolk Voluntary Championships,  in September. Congratulations, Lucy, on your success!

Romily joins the circus!

Romily (Year 4) gained her Level 5 Gymnastics Proficiency certificate last weekend at the Chermond School of Gymnastics in Norwich. The grading requires proficiency in a number of specific gymnastics skills, and has brought Romily to the level required to start the circus skills training offered at Chermond, which she is enjoying very much!  Romily will be performing in the School’s show, Aspects of Alice, at the Theatre Royal in September – tickets are available from the theatre box office.

Lucy Leaps to Gymnastics Success

We are always pleased to share news of our pupils’ successes out of school as well as within, so we were delighted to hear how well Lucy (Year 8) performed in the Norfolk Grades Championships (part of the British Gymnastics Women’s Artistic National Development Plan) earlier this month. She was placed fourth all around (age 12+, grade 5) and gained a commendation pass. She now goes through to the Eastern Counties Regional Final on 1st May.

Congratulations, Lucy on these great achievements!

Wintry lines and sunny daffodils…

It was lovely to welcome everyone back today after a good half term break.

We may all be looking forward to Spring, now, but it’s not too late to enjoy this Winter poem by our Years 3 and 4 pupils. Mrs Mobbs says, ” We all sat together in our creative writing sessions and brainstormed our ideas for ‘Images of Winter’. We hope you like the result – it’s a bit strange to see the crafty little bunch of daffodils ( brought in by Matilda) making an appearance so soon!”
