News from the HOHS gardens

Over the summer, our beautiful gardens provided a wonderful, colourful display to staff and summer visitors, with Mr Young working hard throughout the holidays to keep everything tidy! This week, apples from our orchard have found their way into the fruit bowl in the dining room, and there is plenty of weeding, dead-heading and tidying to be done as autumn approaches.

Have you voted for a fruit tree yet? We’d like your help deciding whether our boarders should have an apple, pear, plum or cherry tree in our orchard dedicated to them. So far 34% of the votes have gone to plum, making it the clear leader, but if  your choice is something different, there’s still time to vote by ticking your choice below!

Apple, Pear, Cherry or Plum? Please vote!

Mr Young has been getting the orchard ready for planting some new fruit trees – all Norfolk heritage varieties – in March. Two of the new trees will be very special.  Firstly, we are planting a “Harling Hero” apple in memory of our dear friend Rev Mary Kerslake, who died  recently.  Another will be specially for our boarding community. We would like your help in deciding what this tree should be…apple, plum, pear or cherry? Please tick you choice below!
