Tennis Report from Katie Brooks

The tennis programme for Upper Prep and Senior pupils started this week and we have made a great start, hitting plenty of balls and having lots of fun on the courts. I am organising a range
of tennis activities, competitions, tournaments and events, including the fast-approaching annual tennis Easter egg hunts for our tennis players throughout the school!

Lower Prep School Mini Tennis Coaching has seen an action-packed week with our mini tennis stars practising their rallying skills, and volleys and working towards their first tennis award. Player of the Week awards go to Grace (Reception) for outstanding improvement with her racket skills and groundstrokes and to Jack (Year 2) for excellent improvement with his
rallying skills.

Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 swimming gala v Norwich School

On Wednesday afternoon our Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 pupils hosted Norwich School for an enjoyable and exciting swimming gala. There were lots of close individual races and team relays and everyone swam beautifully! There was fantastic support from parents and pupils alike and we raised the roof! Well done everyone! Georgina and Queen Vic!

At home over half term, Georgina (Year 5) made and painted an excellent clay model of Queen Victoria: we thought it was well worth showing our blog readers! Spot Matilda’s drawing, too!

Our ‘stars’ this week are…

Star-of-weekOur most recent ‘Stars’, receiving special mention by Mr Peace in this morning’s Prep Department Praise Assembly, are:

Isabella (Year 3), for very good place value work in maths, and for writing really well about life processes in science.

Chloe (Year 4), for being very hard working in morning activities and for making a beautiful poster explaining the water cycle.

Georgina (Year 5), for reading lots of books – including reading out loud in front of an audience about a sloth she had found out about. Georgina also made a brilliant model of Queen Victoria for a holiday project – look out for a photograph on the blog later today!

Maisy (Year 6), for working very hard and showing a good attitude. Maisy has also been very good with punctuation in her written work!

Well done to all of these ‘stars’! Who will it be next week?

Years 3 and 4 in the greenhouse

Mrs Gunn took Years 3 and 4 pupils to Mr Young’s greenhouse today, where the children helped to pot on some flower seedlings to provide extra colour in our gardens before the end of the summer term. The pupils also planted some seeds of their own – chillis, carrots and other good things to eat – that’s what they are doing in these photos. Some of the produce will be used in the wheelbarrow plantings we are planning for the Royal Norfolk Show in June – watch this space for news about this!
