Year 10 drama march for women!

Year 10 drama pupils will be performing their GCSE devised piece in The Barn on Speech Day at 1.00pm for all pupils, staff and parents who would like to see it.

For the exam, the girls were required to choose from several stimuli to devise and perform an original piece,  and opted for  ‘Sisters’.  After extensive research, they decided to base the performance on  the Suffrage movement – highly topical  in this centenary year of women gaining the vote.

We wish the girls luck with their exam performance on Monday.  Good luck, too, to Rosamaria E (Year 10) who has been selected as an ‘extra’ on the set of a forthcoming  Richard Curtis / Danny Boyle musical film.

  • Did you know….2018 marks 100 years since women in Britain got the vote, thanks to the tireless campaigning and personal sacrifice of the Suffragettes.

GCSE drama production: My Sister Died

Year 10 GCSE drama pupils performed the second of their two practical pieces to camera for assessment today. Entitled My Sister Died, the prepared improvisation explored the relationship between two sisters, one of whom is dying of breast cancer. The piece was based on a true story the girls had stumbled on while researching the ‘Sisters’ topic Mrs Richards had given them to explore. According to Miss Cushing, who was in the audience, they achieved “a stunning, mature performance which far exceeded any expectations.” Well done, Charlotte B, Grace, Francesca and Charlotte S…and good luck with the written exam still to come!
