“We are stardust…”

Year 8 have been investigating fascinating facts about atoms and matter.  Did you know that the carbon, nitrogen and oxygen atoms in our bodies were created in previous generations of stars over 4.5 billion years ago?  Humans and every other animal as well as most of the matter on Earth contain these elements…so we are literally made of star stuff…!

Our winning ‘Star’ poems and more

Mrs Maher and Mrs Young recently held a competition for pupils to write a poem about ‘stars’.

All pupils from our Reception class through to Sixth Formers were encouraged to get creative and we had some wonderful entries.

The results are as follows:

Best academic poem: Emily Edwards (9C)
Most creative poem: Grace Greenfield (5T)
Best use of a metaphor in a poem: Letitia Gaskin (9C)
Best presented and wittiest poem: Alexander Cooper (1H)

Well done to our winners.
