THANK YOU to the Parents’ Association – and would you like to join us?

THANK YOU on speech bubble price labels During the headmaster’s address on Speech Day, Mr Crump thanked all the members of our wonderful Parents’ Association for the fantastic job they do – especially with our very popular summer fete and Christmas markets. These events raise valuable funds for a variety of ‘extras’ for pupils of all ages to enjoy and to enhance their experience at school. This school year, for example, the PA has funded new wooden play equipment in the Nursery as well as several laptops for use in the Prep school and a new portable pa system.

Chair of the PA Joy Elsley spoke to the assembled families and friends about the work of the PA, inviting new members to step forward and join. “We are looking for new members to join us once a month for an hour to provide ideas and support for our future events,” she said. “The atmosphere is relaxed and amusing at times… we would love to see you there and you will be made very welcome.”
If you would like to find out more, please email Joy at PA@hohs.co.uk

Summer Fete: see you all tomorrow!

Our beautiful gardens have been a hive of activity this morning as tents go up, barbecues are positioned and other essential preparations take place for tomorrow’s HOHS Summer Fete. Meanwhile, Miss Hopwood has been working hard at lunchtimes all week with the children who will be performing Maypole dances, making sure they perfect their skipping and ribbon-weaving moves!

With entertainers, fairground rides, tea-and-cake tent, inflatables, games, barbecue, treasure hunt and stalls galore, this is a fun event for all the family. And don’t miss out on our grand raffle  – there are some amazing prizes including two brand new bikes, signed items from Norwich City FC and many more. Tickets will be on sale on the day.

Entry to the fete is free – look forward to seeing you there!

Our fete made the news!

Our Wonderland fete was in the Eastern Evening News on Monday – look out for it in tomorrow’s Wymondham and Attleborough Mercury, too. The even better news is that the fete made in excess of £6,000 profit for PA funds – well done, everyone, that is a fantastic achievement!

Help needed for the summer fete!

AliceInWonderland-225x300

We have another fun-packed fete planned this year (Saturday 14th May, 11 am-2.30pm). As usual, each class will have a stall, and there will be a BBQ, plants and produce, tombola, entertainment, external stallholders and much, much more. This year the fete is having an Alice in Wonderland theme and we are all very excited about this!

We need your help, please, to make this another very successful event and raise lots of money for the extra items in school that your sons and daughters will benefit from.

If you are able to donate any of the following we would be extremely grateful. They can be brought into school and left in the office as soon as possible.

* Good condition books and toys
* Tombola prizes
* Raffle prizes
* Cakes and Plants (to be brought into school the day before the fete or on the day itself, but please let us know what you are planning to bring)
* Empty jam jars as soon as possible for the Children’s Jam Jar Tombola (we will be asking the children to fill one (or more, if they can!) with penny sweets and small toys – these are always hugely popular!)

Finally, we are looking for offers of help on the day. ‘Many hands make light work!’ So if you are able to spare an hour or two please contact Charissa Garner via the School reception desk.HOHS-FETE-drawings

PA Update: Fete Date and Raffle Prizes!

PA-pink-box

The next big PA event is is our ever-popular summer fete, which will be held on Saturday 14th May. We are very excited about our Alice in Wonderland theme! Prepare to be amazed and entertained as you join us at our Mad Hatter’s Tea Tent, follow an enchanted treasure hunt in the woods, keep a look out for the white rabbit and have some great family fun. Every year the children and teachers work very hard to organise money-raising ideas for their stalls; this year the Wonderland theme is sure to get everyone thinking! There will be many more attractions that we will let you know about closer to the event but in the meantime please save the date and spread the word!

RAFFLE PRIZES

So much work goes into our biggest fundraiser of the year that it’s crucial to gather our prizes now. Do you either have something to donate, or know someone with a business who would be kind enough to donate a prize? If so, then please let me know! My email is charissa@taygar.co.uk.
