Katie Brooks, our tennis coach, reports on the court action at HOHS:

This will be an exciting and busy term for tennis at HOHS– and the action started last week, with all our mini and older tennis players making a great start. All our Prep pupils will be taking part in the Mini Tennis Awards Scheme, team tournaments and Wimbledon activities. Seniors, meanwhile, will be participating in The Road to Wimbledon 14 Under Challenge, 13 and 15 Under matches and tournaments and our very own Hethersett Old Hall School Tennis Championships.

Players of the Week:

Grace (Reception) for her brilliant groundstrokes.

Matthias (Year 1) for outstanding improvement with his groundstrokes and rallying.

Oliver (Year 4) for outstanding hard work and improvement.

Skyla-Grace (Year 7) for fantastic improvement with her volleys and serve.

Tennis News

This was a very busy week on the tennis courts at school.

Lower Prep 

Congratulations to all of our mini tennis players in the Lower Prep School for successfully completing their level 1 tennis awards this term. They have all received their certificates this week!

Upper Prep 

Our mini tennis players in the Upper Prep have worked very hard this week, developing technique on their groundstrokes and serves. I have been very impressed with their commitment, hard work and enthusiasm.

Senior School

This week we have worked on serving, rallying and tactical awareness. The standard of play has been very high and we have had great fun too!

Players of the Week

Matthias (Year 1) for brilliant groundstrokes and rallying.

Sophie (Year 2) for outstanding improvement with her racket skills and groundstrokes.

Chloe (Year 4) for excellent improvement with her serves.

Skyla-Grace (Year 7) for fantastic improvement and hard work with her groundstrokes and rallying.

Next week, throughout the school, there will be Easter egg hunts taking place at the end of every tennis lesson. Charlie the chic,  Betsy the bunny and their friends will be very busy next week hiding all the eggs! There will also be a ‘Highest Rally with the Coach’ competition and the winner will be presented with a Maltesers Easter Egg. Every pupil who hits a rally of 100 with me, will also receive an Easter Egg!

Tennis Report from Katie Brooks

The tennis programme for Upper Prep and Senior pupils started this week and we have made a great start, hitting plenty of balls and having lots of fun on the courts. I am organising a range
of tennis activities, competitions, tournaments and events, including the fast-approaching annual tennis Easter egg hunts for our tennis players throughout the school!

Lower Prep School Mini Tennis Coaching has seen an action-packed week with our mini tennis stars practising their rallying skills, and volleys and working towards their first tennis award. Player of the Week awards go to Grace (Reception) for outstanding improvement with her racket skills and groundstrokes and to Jack (Year 2) for excellent improvement with his
rallying skills.

Tennis Report

The last week before half term saw all my Mini Tennis stars working very hard on developing their racket and ball skills and basic strokes. We will be completing our first mini tennis award after half-term and all the pupils will receive a certificate celebrating their achievements. I am absolutely delighted with the fantastic progress made by all our mini tennis players this term.

Players of the Week
Jack (Nursery) for his excellent forehands and tremendous improvement this term.
Reno (Year 1) for outstanding improvement with his racket and ball skills and groundstrokes.

Tennis coaching for Upper Prep and Senior pupilsl starts again after the half-term break. I look forward to seeing you all then!
