Last week was a wonderful week on the tennis courts at HOHS where the Mini Tennis coaching continues in earnest! Last week we were focusing on practising our groundstrokes, volleys and rallying.

Players of the Week:

Harry (Reception) for excellent improvement with his racket and ball skills.

Matthias (Year 1) for outstanding play and hard work.

We had another fantastic week of tennis – there are some very talented players at HOHS!

Lower Prep: Jake (Reception) for outstanding improvement

Upper Prep: Lydia (Year 6) for excellent improvement and hard work.

Senior School: Laura (Year 7) for great improvement with her groundstrokes.

The week just gone was another action-packed one on the tennis courts –  well done everyone!  Next week, there will be Hallowe’en-themed tennis lessons and chocolate spiders and bat biscuits for everyone! (It may be a bit early but half term is coming and we don’t want to miss out!)

Tennis News

Over the past week we have had our very own ‘Wimbledon Championships’ at school! The standard of tennis has been excellent and the sportsmanship demonstrated by all our players has been exemplary.

Our Year 5 Singles Champion is Maxim and our Year 6 Singles Champion is Skyla-Grace.

In the Senior School, Hannah, Gabriella, Maria and Raquel were ‘Davis Cup’ Doubles Champions.

Players of the Week

Lower Prep School – Chloe (Nursery) for excellent forehands and racket skills.

Upper Prep School – Caitlin (Year 4) for outstanding improvement and hardwork.

There will be a special tennis awards presentation at the beginning of next term for all the mini tennis players in the Prep School and tennis players in the Senior School.

It has been a magnificent term of tennis and I look forward to seeing you all on the tennis courts next term

Katie Brooks, our tennis coach, reports that last week was another busy one on the tennis courts: “There was plenty of fantastic tennis being played by everyone – and we have had lots of fun too”, she said.

How amazing for Rafael Nadal to win his 10th French Open – what an inspiration he is!
