Boarders go Christmas shopping

The boarders would like to apologise to anybody who was planning to  shop in Norwich this coming week, as it appears they emptied the shops on Saturday! The final trip of the term is always a busy one and this year was no exception. Pizza Express did a fantastic job in catering for 23 hungry people and everyone left feeling very full. It was our last chance to say goodbye to two of our fabulous gappies as well. Merry Christmas!

Beach-combing and toe-dipping for boarders

Luckily the torrential rain stopped in time for the Boarders’ trip to Southwold today! The sun shone and the girls enjoyed exploring the famous pier and indulging in a spot of shopping before sampling the chips and ice cream. They spent time combing the beach for sea glass and braving the water with their toes…all plans to swim were abandoned with the discovery that the North Sea is cold!

Boarders hit the shops!

This weekend the boarders visited Norwich for some shopping and exploring. Despite the rain they managed to cover a great many shops in a few hours and appear to have come home with most of the goods on sale! The boarding house now smells of bath bombs and there are fairy lights on almost every surface.

Boarders explore Blickling Hall

Last weekend our boarders took advantage of the miserable weather to explore Blickling Hall in North Norfolk. Once in the ownership of the famous Boleyn family, this magnificent early seventeenth-century stately home provided plenty to interest the girls. They were suitably impressed by the artwork on the walls and expressed a sudden desire to wear the big dresses of the 17th Century and have silver service at supper each night! Thankfully this wore off when they were told they would also have to do the washing up afterwards.

The staff at Blickling were kind enough to open up some of the secret doors and cupboards so the girls could see the “real” Blickling. The weather cleared up enough to head outside and smell the famous hyacinth borders before making a beeline for the shop.

Bronze and Silver D of E

Last weekend the Silver and Bronze (pictured below) Duke of Edinburgh groups went out on their first day practice.

They all worked extremely hard practising their navigation skills. Excellent team skills were seen and they all got back safe and sound without being rained upon!
