U14 and U16 badminton v Thorpe St Andrew High School

This evening saw both our U14 and U16 badminton teams play a strong Thorpe St Andrew side. Although both teams suffered defeats, with the final scores being 6-3 and 5-4 respectively, there were some notable successes, with special mention going to Harriet and Mia who won all of their matches (again!). My thanks  to Rebekah who stepped in to play in Izzy’s absence.

Great start for HOHS U14 and U16 badminton teams

After a well-earned festive break, the PE Department wasted no time in springing back into action, starting with the U16 and U14 badminton teams playing against Norwich High School for Girls yesterday.

The U16 team won their match with notable performances from Amy, Alice, Izzy and Philippa, who won all their games. Fabulous start to this year!

Despite a close finish, the U14 team were not victorious on this occasion, winning four games to their five, and with notable performances from Mia and Harriet who won all their games. Another great start!

Thank you to Rebekah and Cristina who both stepped in at the last minute, and particularly to the Year 11 girls who played immediately after their exams. I suspect the shuttlecocks received a fair pounding as a source of stress relief!

The U14 and U16 badminton teams played their first games of the season yesterday against Hethersett Academy. Although both teams lost by 3 games to 6, special thanks go to Anna L and Rebekah Y for stepping in at the last minute owing to illness.

    U14 10-0 v Framingham Earl High School

The Under 14s hockey team played this afternoon against Framingham Earl School and were triumphant with a 10-0 win! Great goal-scoring skills were on show with Mia scoring a mighty six goals. Player of the Match goes to Ashlyn who worked tirelessly in defence and as a consequence, no goals were scored.

Well done girls, it was thoroughly enjoyable to watch you play at a higher level whilst playing on astro turf.

U14 badminton team are Norfolk Schools Champions!

Congratulations to the U14 badminton team who have won the Norfolk Schools badminton league for the second year running.

The team came first in their pool, beating Thorpe St Andrew, Notre Dame High School, Attleborough Academy, Hethersett Academy and Norwich High School. In the final this afternoon, we met Fakenham Academy and ran out 6-3 winners with all the girls playing some excellent badminton.

A big thank you to Anna and Rachel who stepped in at the last minute to replace injured Emily. The girls have been a pleasure to work with and should be immensely proud of their achievements, with many playing above their age group.

SQUAD: Isabelle (C), Sophie, Mia, Harriet, Rebekah, Emily, Rachel and Anna.
