Match report: U12 & U14 rounders v Langley

The U15 tournament on Tuesday was cancelled due to the weather. Norwich High are hoping to re-schedule and will get back to all the schools ASAP.

On Thursday 26th June HOHS hosted an U12 and U15 rounders match against Langley School. The U12’s put on a battling performance in the first innings and the scores were incredibly close, with Langley on 8 1/2 and HOHS on 8. Rounders coming from Hannah Young (1 1/2), Gabriella Moretti-Miles (1) and Isabelle Sellors (1 1/2).

During the second innings Langley’s bowler stepped up their game, and, despite some superb catching from Philippa Hardesty in deep field, Langley came out as winners 22 to 13.

Despite losing the game the girls can be incredibly pleased with how much their rounders has improved this term, both as individuals and as a team. The girls have attended regular practices and shown a positive attitude in lessons and we look forward to next years rounders games.

U12 Squad: Mollie Deeks, Aisling Kendall, Philippa Hardesty, Gabriella Moretti-Miles, Lacey Mayes, Ria Simmons, Hannah Young, Sophie Barrow, Sarah Kendall and Isabelle Sellors.

Team Captain: Lacey Mayes

Rounders Fixture Vs Framingham Earl
Tuesday 11th June 2013

There were big smiles all round as the U12 team won again. The whole team, led by Isabel Hartley, played with great enthusiasm and a real desire to win. Player of the match was Jessica Lloyd for her amazing skills in both batting and fielding. The final score was 26 – 20 ½ rounders. Well done to all the girls for another great performance!

The U13 team, captained by Sophie Walker, worked brilliantly together to get 3 people out and score some excellent rounders. The player of the match was Anna Allen, who batted confidently and worked really well at 2nd post. The match was very competitive and unfortunately Framingham Earl were too far ahead and we lost 10 ½ – 18.

The U14 team started off with some big hits, which were unfortunately caught out. After the first innings the score was 8 ½ to HOHS and 1 ½ to Framingham Earl. Lily Cook worked brilliantly as Backstop and Lilyella Ayers batted consistently well throughout. Our fielding was outstanding, especially Chloe Sellors and Olivia Culling near 2nd post. The game finished 20 – 4 ½ to HOHS. The players of the match were Francesca Udberg for some excellent bowling and Isabella Matthews-Cook for performing some superb throws from deep field.

The U15 team are a very determined group of girls who always work well together as part of a team. Throughout the match the girls worked hard to improve their batting and fielding to try to close the gap Framingham Earl created. There were some excellent throws from deep field and some great catches on the posts. Emily-Jayne Matthews was named player of the match for her consistent bowling, catches and batting. Unfortunately the girls lost their match and the final score was 21 ½ – 26 ½ to Framingham Earl.    rounders shot

HOHS players represent Norfolk in country badminton championships

The badminton season went well for HOHS last academic year, with the U12s winning their league and the U14s just missing out on the title and coming runners-up. We have great expectations for our U14 team this year, with four Norfolk players on the team.

Chloe Sellors, Olivia Perry, Frankie Udberg and Anna Allen all represent Norfolk in the U15 team and have recently competed in the U15 and U17 country championships (the U17s was pretty tough and our girls had to compete against some of the best players in England!)

Our U14 team also includes budding player Lily Cook and Abbey Ayers.

We are looking forward to another excellent year of badminton here at HOHS.
