Anna and Sienna triumph at athletics championships

On Saturday 14th June Anna and Sienna (Year 10) competed in the Norfolk Schools Athletics championships at the UEA Sportspark. Both Anna and Sienna competed in the intermediate girls category, made up of students from schools across the county in Years 10 and 11.

1st and 2nd in each event/category would result in qualifying for a place at the Anglian Athletic Championships which take place on Saturday 21st June against some of the top athletes from Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.

At 10.30 am Sienna competed in the long jump her ‘second’ event and despite having not trained for a period of time managed a credited third place with a best jump of 4.64 meters.

12.25 saw Anna run in her specialised 800 meters where she finished 1st with a time of 2.25.5

Sienna competed again at 1.30pm in the high jump, her specialist event where she cleared a height of 1.50 meters and came 1st in her category.

Both girls have therefore qualified for the Anglians and should be very proud of themselves. Both Anna and Sienna put in many hours of hard training, weekly throughout the year to ensure that they are in the best possible shape for events such as the county championships.
