Music and Drama Winter Concert – the pictures!

Thank you to all the family members who came to see our winter concert yesterday: it was lovely to see so many faces filling The Barn. We hope you enjoyed watching as much as we enjoyed performing! Thanks, too, for your generous donations to our chosen charity, Mini Donkeys for Welfare.

Music and Drama Winter Concert tomorrow

A reminder that our Prep and Senior School pupils will be demonstrating their dramatic and musical talents at our annual Winter Concert tomorrow evening, Thursday 30th, at 6.30pm in The Barn. We hope many of our families will come and join us for what will be a varied programme with contributions from our drama and music departments,  based loosely on the theme of winter.

The concert will finish at approximately 8.00pm and, as you leave, you may like to contribute to a collection for  Mini Donkeys for Wellbeing, our adopted charity for the coming year.  You can see a video about their work and the impact these gentle little creatures make on their website here.

At the end of the evening please join us for mince pies and refreshments.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Junior Choir are a bit windy!

Our Junior Choir (Years 3-6) meets on Monday afternoons under the expert tutelage of  Director of Drama Mrs Richards. The roving camera caught them yesterday as they began work on an atmospheric song about the winter wind….perhaps you can tell from the picture that they are intoning some ghostly  “ooooh” wind sounds here!  We will all be able to see and hear the polished performance in the winter concert later in the second half of term.

A feast of music, mulled wine and mince pies!

Parents, pupils and staff enjoyed an evening of the school’s musical talent at the Winter Concert in the Barn yesterday evening, followed by mince pies and mulled wine.

The audience was treated to a varied and lively programme with solo instrumental and singing performances, duos and groups as well as both Prep and Senior choirs and our orchestra. The Upper Prep choir gave us a lively rendition of the 19th-Century All Around My Hat, while the Handchime Group opted for a familiar piece from two hundred years earlier, God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen. Deputy Head girl Tami’s soulful rendition of Without a Word brought a tear to the eye of this reviewer, while Sam P’s interpretation of the Clean Bandit song Rockabye got the feet tapping! International pupils Cherry (vocals) and Susie (piano) gave us a hauntingly beautiful song in Chinese and Felicity’s Home on the Range was charmingly performed.  The Senior Choir finished the concert with a polished rendition of Empire State of Mind before the mince pies and mulled wine brought a most enjoyable evening to an end.

It was good to see so many pupils showcase their talents in front of their parents and wider school community: very well done to all of them.

A feast of music, singing and a few mince pies!

Parents, pupils and staff enjoyed an evening of the school’s finest musical talents at the Winter Concert in the Barn on Tuesday evening, followed by mince pies and mulled wine. Thanks to Mrs Greene,  Mrs Richards, Mr Dodd and Mrs Jaggard for their dedication in rehearsal and preparation, and to Mr Reeves and his team for the splendid refreshments.

Parent Tracy Barrow writes:

“The Winter Concert saw us being entertained by a varied and lively programme featuring pupils from both the Senior and Prep departments. We enjoyed solo performances played on various musical instruments as well as singing from individuals, groups and the senior choir. The Upper Prep school choir gave us a lovely rendition of ‘A Thousand Years’.

It was a delight to see so many pupils be given the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of both their parents and other members of the school community.

After the concert we were treated to delicious mince pies and mulled wine to end what was a very enjoyable evening of music.”

The pictures below were taken at the dress rehearsal during the afternoon.
